February 27th – Saturday was a quiet day enjoying the last few hours in the desert. We spent some time on the patio enjoying the warmth and a good book and then began the task of packing up. On our way to dinner we drove through a couple more areas where we might consider staying and then went to one of the most interesting restaurants for dinner. Again, someone had recommended we go to John Henry’s in Palm Springs. It was a bit difficult to find since there is only a gate in a brick wall at street level, which leads to a patio and restaurant behind. The place was packed and the tables were so close, conversation with your neighbours was almost a necessity. Dinner was excellent, especially the dessert which had so much ice cream we were very happy we had decided to share.
February 28th – After church in the morning, the early afternoon was spent packing. A concert with Frederick Swan, well known organist, at St. Margaret’s Lutheran was scheduled for the late afternoon and did not disappoint. He has been organist at both RiverWhat a great venue for musical events! After the concert we took the car home and walked to the California Pizza Kitchen at the corner. Great spot on Oscar night. Someone was holding a big party at Wolfgang Puck’s so we assumed it was some celebrity who chose to boycott the Oscars and hold their own event.El Paseo is such a pretty street at night with all the lights.

Then it was home to finish packing and have one last scrabble game. Final score for this trip is Nancy 10 – George 7. Wow!!
February 29th – Since the next residents weren’t arriving for a few days, our condo owner allowed us to stay until the afternoon since our flight wasn’t until 5:30pm. After packing up and cleaning the condo (minimal!) we walked down to Cafe des Beaux Artes for lunch. Nothing like finishing where you started on day 1.
Goodbye Palm Desert – I’m sure we’ll be back!
